Sabrina: First haircut

On Tuesday evening, we took a family bike ride to Great Clips for the girls' summer haircuts.  This was Sabrina's first haircut.  And as you can see from the "before" pictures, she needed one.  The lady put her hair in those awesome pig tails and she thought she was the cutest thing.  As Tom says: "She actually looks like a person now with her hair down."  Don't let her "after" pictures fool you into thinking she got all sweet on us.

Yesterday, I watched her take scissors and cut a hole in her pants.  When I took the scissors away, she screamed for an hour and a half "WHEN I CALM DOWN, I WANT MY SCISSORS BACK!"  When I asked her why she cut a hole in her pants she said: "BECAUSE I WANT MY SCISSORS."  Then last evening, she drew a whole bunch on the couch with crayons.  Tom said: "Sabrina, did you color on the couch?"  She said: "Uh huh."  Tom: "Do we need to take away all your colors?"  Sabrina: "Uh huh."  "Okay, you can't have colors all day tomorrow."  Sabrina: "And scissors!"

Youth Conference 2013

This past weekend was Youth Conference.  The pictures are in reverse order and I'm too lazy to fix them.  So, anyway, this is something I've been working on for a long, long time and now that it's over, it feels like summer!  So Thursday was everyone's last day of school, so all the youth registered at the park at 4pm (I went straight from the afore mentioned preschool carnival).  They played outdoor games, took a group picture, had a devotional with the stake president, ate a BBQ, and then had the kickoff dance until 10.  On Friday, we had all the youth rotating through classes at the Church and baptisms at the temple.  They did 533+ baptisms.  It was awesome.  Then a break after lunch and a dance at the Church.  Saturday was service projects all over the city.  We drove all over and took pictures (I included several... don't those t-shirts look awesome?  Tom and I screen printed them all in our garage.  All 200 of them.  Pictures included of that as well.  We had help.).  Then a break and the youth got all fancied up, drove to a lodge on the military base (the view from the lodge is the first picture) and we had a lovely testimony meeting, dinner, and formal dance (our stake likes to dance!).  It went really well, I took a four hour nap the Sunday after it, and now I can finally relax!

Preschool BBQ

Last Thursday was the last day of Celia's preschool.   They went all out and had pony rides, a bouncy house,  food, and some intense face painting.   And cute baby lambs running around.   Hazel (out little cousin we watch on Tuesdays,  Wednesdays,  and Thursdays) loved the lambs. Celia had fun in the bouncy house,  but Sabrina took one step in,  burst into tears,  and yelled "I want to ride the pony!"  The girls rode the ponies with very somber faces,  but said they liked it.  Face painting is self explanatory.   And awesome.

Last day of school

Today was Celia's last day of classes at preschool.   Tomorrow is the official last day,  but they are doing a BBQ.  The picture of both girls was the first day of school so you can see how Celia has grown.

Celia: Always Explainable

Yesterday was hilarious (in retrospect).  Celia was a total nightmare all day (rare).  I could not figure it out.  She was defiant, mean, selfish, and cried all the time.  After lunch, I said we all needed naps.  And she and Sabrina both fell asleep (rare for both of them to nap any more).  After nap, things went more smoothly and we had a fun-filled evening eating cookies and playing games.  After we gave the girls a bath and put them in their jammies, Celia very nonchalantly said: "Mommy, I think today was so bad because I forgot what you said.  This morning when I woke up, the clock said four and I forgot to go back to sleep.  I played in my bed."  And there it is.  She promised me she would remember to go back to sleep if it said 4 or 5 or 6 this morning and though I did hear her singing around 6:30, today did go much better (except for Sabrina's poopsplosion of diarrhea in panties at the Church this morning, but that is better left undetailed...).
